The Hot FiberBox combines all home media and

telephony devices.

After years of technological stagnation, Hot Telecommunication Systems Ltd. (TASE: HOT.B1) has unveiled one of the most advanced and fascinating products in the world of television. Today, it unveiled the Hot FiberBox, a smart set-top box, the first of its kind in Israel, which combines all home communications services, and allows the integration of fixed-line and mobile telecommunications systems.

The Hot FiberBox contains an advanced HD receiver set-top box, an 200-Mbps Internet modem, wireless router and telephony modem, and a media center for the entire home. It is possible to add to the set-top box a Blu Ray player, which supports advanced formats, such as 3D and HD.

The new set-top box, first reported by “Globes”, is based on the smart set-top box of Hot’s French sister company, Numericable, which is also a subsidiary of Patrick Drahi’s Altice SA (Euronext: ATC). Hot developed a new interface for the set-top box customized for the Israeli market and for the carrier’s services, such as Start Over.

The set-top box’s new features include picture-in-picture (PiP) for watching two channels simultaneously. The service gives customers a range of options, such as watching two sports events at the same time, or waiting for a program to begin. It is possible to share content between all of the devices in the home and its residents – to play movies, enjoy music files, and show pictures from any device on the television screen.

The Hot Remote app can control the Hot FiberBox via a smartphone instead of the usual remote. The app can be downloaded for free for iPhones and Android handsets.

The Hot FiberBox also has upgraded recording capabilities, such as the ability to record two programs simultaneously, and the screening of two channels (the main channel and another channel via PiP).

To mark the launch, Hot is offering the FiberBox to its Triple Platinum and new subscribers for no additional fee. Triple Top subscribers will be offered the new set-top box at a 50% discount, i.e. NIS 30 per month. Other sales campaigns will offer the set-top box for NIS 60 a month.

“The smart set-top box sets a high threshold in the market, and allows our customers to enjoy state-of-the-art technology and an unparalleled viewing experience and quality of service in the Israeli telecommunications market. It gives Israel a world-class standard,” said Hot CEO Ilan Zachi today.
