Israel and Russia sign mobile roaming agreement
Israel and Russia have signed a cellular roaming agreement, which will allow lower mobile phone rates for tourists from each country visiting the other. It is difficult to assess the full significance of the agreement because the sides did not provide details making it impossible to know by how much prices will fall in practice. Israeli and Russian mobile carriers will need to negotiate and agree new tariffs.
Veteran mobile carriers’ profit down 39% in Q3
Growing competition in the mobile telephony market, and the advent of Hot Mobile and Golan Telecom, cut the profits of the three established mobile carriers by 39% in the third quarter, in comparison with the previous quarter. The aggregate profit of Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL), Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) and Pelephone Communications Ltd.was NIS 388 million. The three companies’ aggregate revenue fell by more than NIS 1 billion (21%) to NIS 3.8 billion.

MVNO Youphone offers NIS 49 monthly plan
Mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Youphonetoday launched a NIS 49 plan for light users, after debuting with a NIS 79 monthly unlimited calls plan last month. The plan offers 200 call minutes, 200 SMS messages, and half a gigabyte of Internet access a month. Excess use will cost NIS 0.18 per minute for calls, NIS 0.15 per SMS, and NIS 0.15 per minute of Internet access. These rates are also very low, further improving the plan.

Mobile ad company inneractive Ltd.is collaborating with mobile phone maker Nokia Corporation (NYSE; LSE; HEX: NOK) on it newly launched Nokia Ad Exchange (NAX). NAX provides developers, regardless of platform, with immediate access to more than 120 ad networks and agencies in 200 countries.
Citi: new mobile carriers growing faster than expected
New mobile carriers Golan Telecom Ltd. and HOT Mobile Ltd. are growing faster than initially expected in the two months since their launch, says Citi Research, in explaining the reaction of the current carriers,. Citi analyst Michael Klahr says that HOT Telecom has picked up 90,000 subscribers and Golan Telecom has picked up 30,000 subscribers, for a joint market share of 1.3%.
