Golan Telecom, Hot Mobile still growing
Orange franchisee Partner has stemmed its churn rate thanks to aggressive marketing by unit 012 Smile.

Updated figures following the sales campaigns by Golan Telecom Ltd. and Hot Mobile Ltd.in December 2012 show that the two carriers greatly increased the number of their subscribers. On balance, Hot Mobile recruited more customers, but also lost more customers.

Google Israel has published Zeitgeist, its 2012 report on what Israelis have searched for most on the Internet over the past year. The most asked question was “How do you make money?” in the “How do” question category. In second place was “How do you receive a medical exemption?” a question which was no doubt especially popular among IDF soldiers.

In the program Golan spoke about the new mobile carrier’s latest aggressive marketing campaign (unlimited cellular plans for NIS 49 per month). He also discusses his competitors and the chances of Golan Telecom surviving on an intensively competitive market.

“We’re here to break the market, to work for the good of the Israeli consumer. We’re not in trouble at all,” Golan Telecom Ltd.founder and CEO Michael Golan told “IDF Radio” (Galei Zahal) today in response to yesterday’s halving of the price for the carrier’s all-inclusive plan to NIS 49 a month for six months.

Telecommunications market sources are convinced that the price reduction is the mobile carrier’s death rattle.

Golan Telecom, the mobile start-up that shook the market last spring with discount service packages, was back at it again yesterday. The company said it was offering unlimited calls and Internet connection for NIS 49 a month to people who sign up between now and election day eve on January 21. The price is valid for the first six months, after which it bumps up to Golan’s regular NIS 99 a month rate.

Mobile carrier Golan Telecom Ltd.has halved the price of its unlimited mobile plan from NIS 99 per month to NIS 49. The discount applies to the carrier’s plan for unlimited calls and SMS, free international calls to 53 countries, and up to 3 gigabytes of Internet access. The discount targets new subscribers who switch from other carriers.

The Ministry of Communications has ruled the Golan Telecom Ltd.is in breach of the provisions of its license with regard to international calls made by non-subscribers. In a notice to the company, the ministry said that the company’s practice of allowing subscribers who want to make international calls via its 016 prefix was illegal and must be corrected immediately.
