CEO Barak Hachamov: No emoticon can compete with a person’s facial expression.

Reactive video messaging app Samba has raised $630,000 in seed financing from private investors and launched its app for iPhones. The company’s uniqueness lies in the kind of user experience it offers. When a person receives a video, the app records his or her response for a few seconds and sends them back to the sender, making the communications a bit more personal. The viewer’s response is synchronized to watching the video clip.

Samba was founded in 2013. It investors are AOL On Israel, VP R&D Tal Simantov, AOL Israel SVP Ran Harnevo, Genesis Partners managing partner Eddy Shalev, Ron Zuckerman, Ronny Zarom, and 2B Angels.

Samba co-founder and CEO Barak Hachamov’s previously founded My6Sense Ltd. Samba believes that the new method of communications will create much more feedback between correspondents. “No emoticon can compete with a real person’s facial expression,” says Hachamov.

Samba also allows users to cancel the need to send a response to their videos and delete the original video sent and the viewer’s response.
