About 800 employees of the Pelephone cellular telephone service will continue to strike, Monday, over management’s refusale to recognize their organization efforts with the Histadrut Labor Federation.

The aggressive price war in the mobile market is continuing. Just one month after YouPhoneoffered a NIS 49 monthly plan, the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) has cut prices even more, with today’s launch of a NIS 39 plan.

Pelephone Employees Protest Outside CEO’s Home

Dozens of employees of the Pelephone company and their children held a “Kabbalat Shabbat” outside the home of the company’s CEO, Gil Sharon, on Friday afternoon. The employees held up signs reading: “Gil Sharon – we do not sleep at night – you won’t sleep in the afternoon”, “There is no one to talk to at Pelephone”, and Gil – why won’t you talk to us?”

Pelephone tows away striking workers’ cars

The labor dispute at Pelephone Communications Ltd.has escalated. Last night, employees participating in the strike, which was launched yesterday, discovered that their company cars had been removed from their homes by company representatives who had duplicate keys, or were towed. In some cases, the cars had child seats, baby carriages, and other personal items, such as checkbooks, inside.

Pelephone workers strike

Hundreds of Pelephone Communications Ltd.employees went on strike at 10 am today, in the first strike in Israel’s mobile sector. The workers committee is furious that facing the hundreds of employees who went to the lobby in the carrier’s headquarters in Givatayim, other employees from service centers, who were not due to participate in the strike, turned up in a counter-demonstration.

Strike at Pelephone Monday

Communications with subscribers of the Pelephone cellular telephone service may be disrupted as of 10:00 a.m. Monday, when engineering, information systems and administrative workers at the company’s Giv’atayim headquarters go on strike. The workers are protesting management’s refusal to recognize their organizing efforts, although more than a third of the employees have joined the Histadrut Labor Federation. They said that sanctions planned for Monday were a first step and that they would take more serious steps with each passing day, as needed.

Patrick Drahi’s Altice raises $1.1b debt in London

Patrick Drahi is raising capital aboard, part of which will be used to restructure the debt of Hot Telecommunication Systems Ltd. (TASE: HOT), which he controls. On Friday, Drahi’s private company Altice Group raised $1.1 billion in debt in London from international investors, led by Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and HSBC. The bonds will be listed on the Luxembourg Bourse.

Google Israel has published Zeitgeist, its 2012 report on what Israelis have searched for most on the Internet over the past year. The most asked question was “How do you make money?” in the “How do” question category. In second place was “How do you receive a medical exemption?” a question which was no doubt especially popular among IDF soldiers.

Hot Mobile launches NIS 49 monthly package

Hot Mobile Ltd.has launched a NIS 49 per month unlimited all-inclusive mobile phone plan. The plan includes overseas calls with a NIS 49 charge for six months for those who join via the Internet, and for four months for those joining at sales centers. After that period subscribers will pay NIS 99 per month.
